Just about everyone in LA is talking about Prince's 21 Night Stand, a series of shows he is playing at the Los Angeles Forum with a mindblowing ticket price of $25. It's a must see show, not only to see Prince dance backwards in high heels, but to experience an all-soul revue in a defunct basketball stadium.

Is this the future?

Prince, you deserve much respect for creating such an experience. Even better is seeing all those talented women on stage. I like to imagine all the women who left inspired. Sheila E, of course, is the queen. I'll be spending the rest of my days on the dancefloor (and doing the dishes) trying to do her moves.

DREAM TO BELIEVE

There is nothing I love more than a working class hero who overcomes all by uncovering that last bit of strength. Films that aced this genre include The Karate Kid, Rocky, Heavenly Bodies, Ice Castles, and now Dream to Believe.

Aside from the after-school special warmth of this film, every interlude in Dream to Believe is supported by a musical sequence that fires up the spirit in a musical genre I like to call "Power Diva".
