On Video is a very interesting and inspiring television documentary mini-series about video art in Britain and Europe in the 1980's. It delves deeply into trying to define video art, interpreting media with broadcast tools, and the discovery that playback machines were play-with machines!

 It also gives great insight into British television politics and the purpose of video art through interviews with video artists with varied disciplines. The bonus is a peek into the studios of video artists in the and their equipment. Watch it, learn, and drool.
